A303 Recycling Centre, Hampshire

Corylus has worked with the Raymond Brown Group for a number of years at their recycling site adjacent to the A303 near Barton Stacey in Hampshire. Corylus was engaged to prepare a comprehensive layout plan and landscaping proposals for a new office development within the specialist site. The site comprises a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) which has been designed to receive up to 75,000 tonnes of waste per annum. In addition, the site operates a major IBA (Incinerator Bottom Ash) recycling plant, creating a quality secondary aggregate for use within the construction industry.

To help realise the new plan, our team got to work undertaking a detailed landscape and visual impact assessment as part of the planning application for the facility. We designed a comprehensive landscape mitigation scheme, involving the construction of a raised landform around the site and the planting of 6,000 native trees and shrubs. The bespoke landscaping scheme was specifically designed to provide visual screening from a number of sensitive viewpoints and to integrate the site into the surrounding rural landscape. As a result of our expert advice and management, planning was successful and resulted in ongoing project consultancy for further development of the site.
