The planning application for this site required a Flood Risk Assessment including a Surface Water Management Plan (SWMP).  Being located entirely in Flood Zone 1, the main focus was the SuDS scheme for the SWMP.  Infiltration tests conducted by us across the site confirmed that the soils were slowly draining.  Our drainage appraisal suggested that whilst the impermeable infrastructure on the Site would lead to locally increased runoff, there would be no increase in runoff due to the panels themselves.  In spite of the low rates of infiltration, it proved possible to successfully exploit the gravel access roads and hard standing around the transformers as soakaways in our modelling.  The SuDS design report was reviewed favourably by the Lead Local Flood Authority, Oxfordshire County Council.
