Stonehenge Farm

Proposed Extension to an existing sand and gravel pit, comprising the extraction of 1.5 million tonnes of sand & gravel from 59 hectares of agricultural land in the Lower Windrush Valley, to include the transportation of gravel via 1.5km of pipe line from the extraction site to the existing processing plant, and the final restoration of the site to a reed bed and wetland habitat. Planning permission was gained for the development following a successful Planning Appeal and Public Inquiry.
Input
• Design of a detailed working and restoration scheme with the site to be restored to a reed bed and extensive wetland habitat on a phased basis following mineral extraction
• Project managing the Planning Application and Environmental Impact Assessment and subsequent Planning Appeal. The site is fairly sensitive in terms of Hydrology and flood risk, ecology and landscape character.
• Undertaking a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment as part of the EIA.
• Expert witness at Public Inquiry in respect of Landscape and Visual issues.
• Preparation of a long term (25 year) management plan for management of reed bed and other habitats to promote and conserve nature conservation / biodiversity interests.
• Provision of detailed landscape planting and phased operational schemes to satisfy planning conditions
• Ongoing project management and assistance to Hanson in respect of project implementation.
