Blythe Solar Farm Extension

Blythe Solar Farm Extension

Corylus prepared and managed a planning application for a 17.6MW solar farm extension in the Midlands.
Several teams contributed to this project, with the Landscape Architecture Team producing a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment of the proposed solar panels on the existing landscape. Working with Ecological consultants, a comprehensive landscaping scheme was proposed with a significant 90% Biodiversity Net Gain in habitat units.

Our Hydrologist reviewed the proposal’s impacts upon drainage and surface water, producing a detailed Flood Risk Assessment. As the site lay within a combination of Flood Zones 1 and 3, a solution was found with the plant and infrastructure located within areas at low risk of flooding.
Finally, the Corylus planning team were able to navigate issues raised at planning committee following a deferral of the application. After resolving a screening and amenity issue, an expanded buffering zone was proposed between the development and nearby heritage buildings. The application was then consented at planning committee, following the initial deferral.
