40 DWELLINGS ON THE EDGE OF A VILLAGE
Size: Up to forty dwellings
Corylus were approached by a client who owned a small field on the edge of a Buckinghamshire village. We undertook a high-level review of the site and identified a significant shortage of housing land supply in the local area. Corylus secured the allocation of the site in the Neighbourhood Plan and obtained outline planning consent for residential development.
By working with architect colleagues, we developed a scheme that would enhance the village and build on existing strengths of the village character. The concept included the provision of allotments and public open space, incorporating a community orchard.
Corylus worked very closely with representatives of the neighbourhood plan group to initially identify the site as being one that the community would find acceptable for development. The collaboration continued throughout the process, working to define a scheme that met with the community’s needs.
